Flow-Cal Hosts Iraq's Technical Committee on Metering and Calibration

HOUSTON, TX – January 17, 2011

Flow-Cal, Inc. announced that it recently hosted a visiting delegation for Iraq’s Joint Technical Committee on Metering and Calibration. This visit was made possible by a program sponsored by the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) of the U.S. Department of the Interior. With resurrected and burgeoning oil & gas operations, Iraq’s Ministry of Oil and its Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control have undertaken an ambitious program for establishing rigorous yet pragmatic policies and procedures for the accurate measurement of hydrocarbon streams.

Flow-Cal’s suite of products provides operational efficiencies by gathering, validating, storing and distributing a company’s volume and energy data. Flow-Cal’s intentions are to share their measurement software expertise with the delegation to gain an understanding and successfully apply this to their business organizations and operational standards.

Michael Squyres, President of Flow-Cal, Inc., expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to address the delegates and his admiration for their commitment to succeed. Mr. Squyres said that "With a strong technical and organizational backbone, I’m confident that Iraq will soon be able to implement a world-class hydrocarbon measurement infrastructure and operations that will meet or exceed the accepted international standard. We believe that FLOWCAL Enterprise can be the foundational database software for that goal."

According to Senior International Trade Specialist Ms. Nyamusi Igambi of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Iraq delegation of 12 officials visited several Houston-area companies and an oil refinery, and participated in meetings arranged by the U.S. Commercial Service in Houston. As a result of the meetings, the delegation gained valuable insight into opportunities for sourcing U.S. oil and gas technologies and equipment, while U.S. firms were able to showcase their technologies and learn more about Iraq’s energy market.
